Enterprises in Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park propose using domestic high-tech products
19/04/2025
On April 18th, Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park (SHTP) held a conference to discuss the impact of US tariff policies in 2025 and the period 2026-2030.
The Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park currently has 161 operating enterprises, of which 37 enterprises export to the US market. The export turnover of this park in 2024 is 20.77 billion USD, accounting for nearly 40% of the City's export turnover.
In recent years, the proportion of exports to the US market of the Park has always increased. Specifically: in 2023, the proportion of exports to the US accounted for nearly 4.1%, in 2024 it was more than 7%, in the first quarter of 2025 alone, this proportion increased dramatically to 11% and is on track to continue to increase if not affected by tax imposition. The main export products are electrical equipment, electronics, microchips, etc. At the conference, many businesses said that if the US imposes high reciprocal tariffs, it will greatly affect exports to this market.

Delegates discuss at the conference
Ms. La Thi Thu Hang, CEO of a smart water meter manufacturing enterprise with 90% of its products exported to the US, said that after the US President planned to impose a 46% reciprocal tax on Vietnamese imports, the enterprise's customers have temporarily stopped placing orders and are waiting for the new tax rate.
Faced with this difficulty, Ms. Hang suggested that enterprises in the High-Tech Park and domestic enterprises should support domestic products manufactured using high technology: "We should also support each other, support enterprises with domestic high-tech products. There are domestically produced products using high technology, smart, why don't we support each other to use them. Because a strong economy must have a strong industrial production base".

Enterprises discuss on the sidelines of the conference
At the conference, representatives of functional agencies such as tax and customs also shared difficulties and said they would handle customs procedures and tax refunds faster for enterprises to help reduce difficulties.
Mr. Nguyen Ky Phung - Head of the Management Board of Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park said that through this conference, the Board and functional agencies shared information and found solutions so that enterprises exporting to the US market would not disrupt the supply chain.
During this difficult time, Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park closely monitored the "health" of enterprises and always accompanied and supported enterprises.
